About The Author

 

 

A bisdak from Cagayan de Oro. Bisdak is the shortened version of the colloquial “bisayang dakô” which refers to someone whose ways, language, and manner of relating to others are indicative of where she was born and raised.

 

Experiences that have strongly colored her outlook in life: a congenital heart defect, an open heart surgery, an autoimmune disease diagnosis, and learning to parent on her own.

 

She is working as a preschool coordinator and classroom teacher while finishing her graduate degree in Early Childhood Education. She is a board-certified teacher and librarian, a certified ESL teacher, and an NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) coach counselor as well.

 

In her previous jobs, she has written abstracts for theses and dissertations on various topics, indexed periodicals, washed vinyl records, cataloged videos of daytime soap and public affairs programs, taught English and Reading classes, and held storytelling sessions.

 

She created a literature-based program for a medical clinic’s play center and taught there until it permanently closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

 

Her undergraduate thesis is on "Preschool Libraries: A Survey of Services on Reading Promotion and Literature Awareness for Children".

 

   She built a collection of children’s books without breaking the (piggy) bank. 


She wished she would write as much as she thought about writing

 

She is happiest outdoors. It doesn't matter if it's in the water, on a mountain, or in the woods as long as she has her sunblock, and citronella oil.

 

She believes in unicorns, mermaids, and spirits of old.


She is parenting herself while she parents her child.

 

She loves her son and she likes him too.
